The Founder Institute first launched in Canada in 2014 in the cities of Toronto and Montreal through the help of two of our most senior local program directors: Sunil Sharma and Sergio Escobar.
Since that time, the Founder Institute accelerator has expanded to a total of six cities across the country (including Waterloo, Vancouver, Ottawa, and most recently, Calgary), helping to build over 250 startups in the process.
Earlier this year, Montreal startup Unito raised a $10.5M Series A led by Bessemer Ventures, the largest funding round in FI Canada history, to help disparate workplace collaboration tools be able to speak with one another.
Other Canadian FI portfolio companies are also solving problems for people across the globe; like helping clinicians and researchers better understand big genomics data sets, manufacturing sustainable water refill stations for outdoor events, and helping workers to save for the big trips they dream about through new employer-matched vacation savings benefits.
See the report below to learn more about our portfolio companies from across Canada, as well as some of the investors and partner organizations helping these startups to succeed.
If you want to learn more about the Founder Institute, check out these FI events being hosted in cities across Canada (and around the world), apply to join the next program cohort, or consider launching an FI chapter in your city!
Graduates of the Founder Institute are creating some of the world's fastest growing startups, having raised over $1.85BN in funding, and building products people love across over 200 cities worldwide.
