The Founder Institute launched its first accelerator cohort in Montreal back in 2014, through the leadership of Sergio Escobar (CEO & Partner at BCF Ventures). Today, Escobar, a LatinX immigrant to Canada and a Managing Director in his sixth year running the Quebec-based program, is one of the most experienced Founder Institute program leaders globally.
Over that time period, the Montreal startup and tech ecosystem has grown and transformed, and the Founder Institute Montreal has had a direct role in helping to launch and build 59 startup companies. Today, these companies are solving problems for people all across the globe, like allowing disparate software tools to connect to one another; helping researchers and clinicians to benefit from the lastest in genomic sequencing; and helping manufacturers transition to industry 4.0 by tracking real-time productivity metrics from equipment.
