Montreal Startup "Lean Systems" Selected for "Techstars New York" Accelerator

Posted by Sergio Escobar on 2017-04-06

The Founder Institute, the World's Premier Startup Early-Stage Accelerator Program, is honoured to announce that Sébastien Roy and Graham Mann (Co-founders at Lean Systems) from our Montreal chapter in Canada have graduated for the prestigious Techstars New York accelerator.

The New York startup ecosystem is ranked #2 in the world. Some of the 60+ Techstars NYC alumni include ClassPass, Plated, Timehop and Jukely. The technology, the talent, the investors, the community - all combine to make NYC a hotbed of startup activity. New York is known for being the top choice as headquarters for many of the most successful brands in the world and is rapidly gaining traction as a tech hub.

Canadian startup "Lean Systems", a graduate from Founder Institute Montreal, is bringing enterprise-level optimization to businesses of all sizes. Their optimization platform makes automating the scheduling of large fleets easy, while vastly increasing fleet efficiency.

The initial customers are door-to-door paratransit services for passengers with disabilities, but co-founder Graham Mann said the company eventually plans to work with any large transportation fleet. The technology includes a “core solver” for general routing and scheduling optimization, then overlays geographic and industry-specific rules.  And unlike other route optimization startups, Lean isn’t trying to build its own user interface — instead, it’s focused entirely on the optimization, delivering the results to a customer’s existing software, or just straight into Google Sheets.

Lean Systems, Founders Sébastien Roy & Graham Mann

Lean Systems has built world class cloud platform for optimizing complex routes and schedules. Customers submit raw data into Lean System’s cloud via API. Lean Systems’s backend then applies a set of rules and algorithms that include column generation, novel shortest path problem implementation, and auto-tuned branch and bound to optimize massive amounts of routes and schedules in just a few minutes.

The following partners of the Montreal chapter deserve recognition for their generous and continous support to our entrepreneurs: Spiegel SohmerRichterFuturpreneur Canadaand WeWork.

Sergio A. Escobar is the Managing Director of our operations in Montreal. He has a diversified investment portfolio of companies ranging from Artificial Intelligence, Drones, Wearables, EdTech, Productivity Softwares, eCommerce, MarketPlaces, FinTech to Consumer Apps. Sergio is a tech entrepreneur having experience with Aerospace, eCommerce and Mobile Payment startups. Deeply involved in the international entrepreneurial scene through his involvement as Mentor & Judge for entrepreneurial programs such as Startup Chile, Startup Bootcamp FinTech, MSB Tunisia, Kuwait National Fund, Techstars Startup Programs and World Bank 'Tech Entrepreneurship Program for Innovation in the Caribbean'.
