We have great news for aspiring entrepreneurs in Malaysia!
This week the Founder Institute, the world’s largest entrepeneur training and startup launch program with over 1000 graduate companies, has opened applications for it’s second semester in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. After launching seven promising technology companies that have created dozen of new jobs this past summer, the Founder Institute aims to launch over 30 meaningful and enduring companies in Malaysia in 2014.
The news of the launch was recently covered by Gabey Goh on Digital News Asia: Founder Institute to kick off 2nd Semester.
In the Founder Institute’s 4-month training program, promising startup entrepreneurs “learn by doing” and launch a company through structured training courses, practical business-building assignments, and expert feedback from a large network of business mentors. In addition, since training sessions take place once a week at night, program participants are not required to quit their day jobs. Anyone who is interested in starting a technology company is welcome to apply at http://fi.co/apply/kuala_lumpur.

In just 4.5 years in existence, the Founder Institute has launched over 1,000 new technology companies across 55 cities and 6 continents. Based in Silicon Valley, the Founder Institute’s mission is to “Globalize Silicon Valley” and help promising entrepreneurs launch companies that will create over 20,000 new jobs per year by 2020.
“When we first launched in Malaysia in April of 2013, I was confident that Kuala Lumpur had the resources and entrepreneurship community needed to spawn meaningful and enduring technology companies,” says Adeo Ressi, Founder & CEO of the Founder Institute, on his visit to Kuala Lumpur for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit. “The initial cohort of Malaysian graduates include promising companies like Foodirector, and the support we have received from the ecosystem, and specifically MDeC, has been very impressive. I continue to think we have a great opportunity to help new entrepreneurs build great companies, and create new jobs, in Malaysia.”
The Kuala Lumpur chapter is led by Heislyc Loh and Tzu Ming Chu. Heislyc is the Founder of StartupMamak, a community of startups who meet monthly, and Tzu Ming is the Founder & CEO of Impersuasion.com, a web analytics software and solutions firm.
The program is open to existing and prospective technology founders of all kinds - with or without an idea, young or old, and with a full-time job or unemployed.
