Julie Bort of the Business Insider recently wrote the piece “This Family Man Quit His Steady Job at Citigroup to Dive Into Startups”, featuring Jay Bhattachary, CEO and co-founder of Zipmark. In the article, Jay explains what motivated him to leave his stable, well-paying job, to venture out into the great unknown of startups.
According to Jay, the real challenge of launching a startup is "Figuring out how 'to program your brain' to work outside the 'structure' of a regular job".
After convincing his wife to let him take on the project, Jay joined Jake Howerton, a graduate of the New York Founder Institute. Together, the two utilized their financial expertise to found the mobile and online payments company, Zipmark. With Zipmark, billers and merchants can manage their invoices and send and receive checks without a trip to the bank.
Since their launch, Zipmark has received 3 million in seed financing, and recently announced a partnership with property management software provider, Integrated Business Systems. The partnership was recently featured on Gigaom, which you can read more about here.
