More than 10 years before building his own company, Dayal Nathan, a plastics engineer from CIPET, worked for a large company in Chennai. While he was involved mainly in the manufacturing aspects of the company, he questioned the costs of the company as a means to increase profits. Looking into company’s electricity bill, he saw the electricity bill was unnecessarily high. Nathan would go on to become a CEO of the company and eventually resolved the issue of unnecessary power use, as he was able to decrease abnormally high power bills.
This particular event would be the inspiration behind his own company, Energyly.
That was the birth of the idea. It was in my mind, although I didn’t start it then"
Prior to starting Energyly, however, Nathan also had his hand in two other ventures including an animation studio and compact disc production. After enrolling in the Bangalore Founder Institute, Nathan was able to solidify his ideas and create a business model for his venture.
Energyly creates gadgets that help consumers understand their power consumption. The data can be downloaded on to a computer and analyzed for optimized energy consumption. While larger companies usually have access to larger funds for power consumption monitoring, Energyly allows smaller businesses or individual consumers the ability to control their consumption for a lower price.

Energyly is currently available in Chennai and aims to expand further to various regions including Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Graduates of the Founder Institute are creating some of the world's fastest growing startups, having raised over 2BN in funding, and building products people love across over 200 cities worldwide.
