Norway, Oslo: TotalCtrl (a Founder Institute Oslo portfolio company) today announced six students and two researchers from Østfold University College are working together with the technology company on a research project, to figure out how digital tools can help improve diet, health and cut food waste. The project kicked off on September2nd, and over the next three months six students will map their food costs,diet and food waste, they will test two different digital tools and an analysis will be finalized to see if digital tools can help reduce food waste, improve and ensure a more varied and healthy diet.

The benefits of the findings from this research project will help us understand if technology can help improve how we eat, while at the same time reach the climate goals.

  • SDG 2: One-third of food is wasted despite billions going hungry.

  • SDG 12: By 2030, most of the world has committed to halve global food waste .

  • SDG 13: Each year, we waste edible food and this releases 3.3 gigatons of CO2 equivalent.
