The breakneck pace of development happening now in health technology is already transforming the world in incredible ways, and entrepreneurs in this space are actively working to push humankind into a new and better future.

Because of the industry's breadth and complexity, even health and medical entrepreneurs with their own deep subject matter expertise very much benefit from additional mentorship and networking with other industry veterans. As Founder Institute's Health Tech Virtual 2022 accelerator prepares to launch, we're excited to showcase here a small sampling of the confirmed health and medical industry technologists and investors who will be joining as mentors in the upcoming program:


Liz Rockett

Liz Rockett is the Managing Director of Kaiser Permanente Ventures, where she helps lead Kaiser's investing strategy in healthcare IT, digital health and tech-enabled services in healthcare. She joined as a Principal in 2015, and pioneered the firm's investment in social enterprises, aligning the investment strategy more closely with the non-profit mission of Kaiser Permanente.

Liz Rockett is a board director at Big Health, Everytable, OssoVR, and Kit Check, board observer to DexCare, Omada, Groups, LP advisor to Rock Health. She is also currently on the faculty for Berkeley Haas School of Business curriculum's Sustainable and Impact Finance, where she is co-teaches the new Impact Investing Practicum for MBA students getting hands-on experience in impact investing, learning what it takes to raise impact capital, report on impact, structure portfolios, build investment teams, and more.


Orrin Ailloni-Charas, MD

Orrin Ailloni-Charas, MD is the Founder and Managing Partner of Cura Capital. Cura focuses on powering healthcare innovation by supporting the scientists, clinicians, and innovators whose goals are to transform healthcare, using strategic deployment of capital and by leveraging their deep technical, operational, and clinical expertise to find and guide the best startups to their exits.

Dr. Ailloni-Charas also currently serves on the Board of Directors at UCSF's Health Hub, and previously as a Partner at Global Health Impact Fund, Hermes Life Science Ventures, and as Vice President of Medical Investment Operations at AngelMD.


James Mitchell, MD

James Mitchell, MD is VP of Digital Health at PAVmed Inc, and Chief Medical Officer of PAVmed subsidiary Veris Health, a healthtech startup developing the first intelligent implantable vascular access port with biologic sensors and wireless communication to improve personalized cancer care through remote patient monitoring.

Dr. Mitchell is a radiation Oncologist by training, having spent nearly a decade in the U.S. Air Force as Director of the Joint Radiation Oncology Center, and practicing radiation oncologist utilizing advanced technology including IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, VMAT, and SRS. His past medical technology startup experience includes being a founder and past CEO at Redsmith as well as Oncodisc, Inc.


Adam Schlifke, MD

Adam Schlifke, MD is Digital Health Lead & Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is a board-certified anesthesiologist, and former medical director with fundamental business training, and is highly motivated to improve healthcare delivery in the US through technology.

Dr. Schlifke is also a current Venture Partner with Global Health Impact Fund and Screening Committee Chair & Mento Screening Committee Chair for HealthTech Capital. He enjoys working in entrepreneurial environments that are focused on designing innovative solutions that are well integrated into the healthcare workflow, and has a loves to "disrupt" healthcare delivery with technology-enabled services. He is a former co-founder at Potrero Medical, COVIDvent, XpandCare, and more.


Faye Sahai

Faye Sahai is the Managing Director of Telosity Fund at Vinaj Ventures. Telosity focuses on investing in early-stage companies with affordable and scalable solutions to improve mental well-being in young people.

Faye Sahai also currently serves on the Innovation Advisory Board of the American Nurses Association, and as Co-President for Ascend's NorCal Board Leadership. As an innovation advisor and inclusive change agent, Faye Sahai invests in startups and advises companies in innovative and inclusive strategies to drive transformation, including at AIG, Schwab, Deloitte Consulting, Blue Shield, and Kaiser Permanente; and invests and sits on boards of startups in the digital wellness, health, and insuretech spaces.
