The Founder Institute, the world's largest startup accelerator, is proud to announce that it is launching a new chapter in Melbourne, Australia. The first ever semester in Melbourne begins this Autumn and is currently accepting applications.

With two existing chapters in Sydney and Perth, the Founder Institute is now the country’s only early-stage startup accelerator operating across three cities and two coasts.

News of the launch was covered on Startup Smart by Gavin Lower in an article titled The Founder Institute considering starting a chapter in Melbourne.

You would be hard pressed to find a faster-growing startup ecosystem than Australia’s, and so it is no surprise that Australians have many of the traits that we find to correlate with strong startup founders. Our chapters in Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne are now accepting applications, we also plan to test Brisbane and Adelaide soon as well. Long term, I see no reason why we cannot be known as ‘Australia’s National Startup Accelerator’." - Adeo Ressi, Founder & CEO of the Founder Institute

The Founder Institute has helped launch over 35 Australian companies since first expanding to Sydney in 2010, including Slidefish, FoodOrbit, GeoMoby, and Cashtivity, which were recently named "Top Founder Institute Graduates in 2013". In the Founder Institute’s four-month, part-time program, promising startup entrepreneurs “learn by doing” and launch a company through structured training courses, practical business-building assignments, and expert feedback from a large network of business mentors. Australian Founder Institute chapters are supported by more than 100 successful startup entrepreneur Mentors, including Adeo Ressi (Founder Institute), Andrew Campbell (goCatch), Andrew Julian (Digital Crossroads), and many others.

Leading the Founder Institute's efforts in Melbourne are Matt Allen and Sebastian von Conrad. Matt Allen has been running startups since the mid-90’s, and is now focused on helping startups avoid the same mistakes he made. Sebastian von Conrad works as a development manager at Envato, a Melbourne-based company running some of the world's largest online marketplaces and education sites.
