The Founder Institute (http://fi.co), the world’s largest pre-seed startup accelerator, and Decentral (http://decentral.ca), a Toronto-based innovation hub for disruptive and decentralized technologies, have opened applications for the “Blockchain Founder Vertical” program in Toronto. Since launching the syndicate in early 2019, the program has helped launch 20 new startup companies, 7 of which were blockchain focused, like Fairom, Bitsimple, Artcryption, and many more. The Blockchain Founder Vertical aims to inspire and support early-stage blockchain entrepreneurs in the Toronto Founder Institute by providing:
- Feedback and Mentorship from Over 20 top Blockchain Experts
- A Local and Global Support Network of Entrepreneurs, Investors, and Advisors
- Over $2M in Partner Deals and Resources
- Several "Decentral Fellowships" Awarded to the Top Program Applicants, allowing them to participate in the program for free
This program has been designed in partnership with Anthony Di Iorio, Founder and CEO of Jaxx and Decentral. The goal of the program is to help accelerate more than 40 promising companies that leverage the blockchain by the end of 2019, and help further establish Toronto as a centre for blockchain innovation. Early-stage entrepreneurs interested in building a blockchain startup in Toronto are encouraged to apply at FI.co/join/blockchain. The final deadline for applications will be on July 21st, and the program will run from Aug 06 - Nov 20.

The Toronto Founder Institute was launched in 2014 by Sunil Sharma, Managing Director of Techstars Toronto and co-host of the Collision conference, and has graduated over 140 new startups since it began operations, including Vacation Fund, Find BoB, Parlay, Jauntin, Makeup for Melanin Girls and many more. The Blockchain Founder Syndicate will be co-lead by Kyle Collier, Founder of Phaze.io, and Ryan Micheletti, Director of Global Operations for the Founder Institute. The Blockchain Founder Vertical will run alongside the standard Toronto Summer 2019 Founder Institute cohort and will provide dedicated resources to the Blockchain Founders in the program.
