Founder Institute Chennai has been actively assisting prospective founders to validate their startup ideas and make them into fundable startups since 2015. So far six cohorts have been successfully completed and 37 startups graduated from these cohorts. While some of them are continuing to pursue the original idea, others have made a slight pivot to carry forward their business idea to the next stage.

Recently the startups that graduated from the Founder Institute Chennai were in the news for raising funds for their startups.

Nichebrains cofounded by Chennai Virtual 2021 graduates, Lakshmi Moorthy, John Vincent, and Rehanesh secured their first round of funding from a Virginia-based Angel Investor. Founded in October 2021, nicheBrains helps SMEs to find and engage Experts for digital transformation with pre-configured, short bursts of engagements and predictable outcomes. NicheBrains is developing a technology platform to make it easy for SME leaders having revenue less than $50MN to find & engage Experts for digital transformation with pre-configured, short burst of engagements and predictable outcomes.

According to Lakshmi Narasimha Moorthy, CEO, nicheBrains, “nicheBrains is solving a critical and most important problem faced by SMEs. SMEs are the backbone of the Indian economy, However lack of internal capabilities, high costs of engaging with large consulting firms limit the ability of SME leaders to realize the full growth potential. nicheBrains makes it easy for SMEs to find and engage right experts and engage them through a short burst of engagements with predictable outcomes.”

Impactree, an Indian data analytics start-up that is using small data to disrupt the social sector, cofounded by Rajashri Sai, a Chennai Virtual 2021 graduate recently was awarded a grant from the Incubation center at the Gujarat University Startup and Entrepreneurship Council (GUSEC). This grant was given under the Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs (TIDE) scheme of MeitY Startup Hub. The fund will be used for prototype development.

Impactree solves the biggest challenge affecting the social sector which is the translation of data into insights. Through data analytical platform- Prabhaav Impactree has worked with non-profits, HNI Foundations, and CSRs to make their programs sustainable by using data analytics coupled with unique on-ground insights. Impactree’s work with organizations across Livelihoods and Education has impacted over 7,00,000+ people across 10 states in India.

Chennai Winter 2017 graduate Shyam Nagarajan received a grant for his startup Gofloaters, from Startup TN TANSEED, a Government of Tamil Nadu initiative to promote the startup ecosystem in Tamil Nadu. he received the grant from Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Stalin MK in the presence of Honorable Minister T M Anbarasan, Minister of Rural Industries, and Chief Secretary, V Irai Anbu IAS, Govt. of Tamil Nadu. The startups were selected after a three-day boot camp, followed by a pre-final pitch and a final pitch. The grant awardees were selected by an eminent panel of jury. Gofloaters will be using the grant for market expansion. GoFloaters is a platform that helps you find work and meeting spaces that can be booked instantly.
