The Institute has lined up great mentors, like Jason Calacanis. We’ve secured key startup tools, like free hosting and discount conference attendance. We’ve even added a world class sponsor, Microsoft, to provide tools, resources, and Founder fellowships. Now it is time to apply.
Earlier today, the Institute launched the Founder application form, and a half dozen Founders have already signed-up. The application asks you do things that every Founder should do: think about being an entrepreneur, set-up a professional network, and evaluate your interests and passions. There are three steps to getting your application approved. First, the Institute checks that all of your information is accurate, coherent, and well thought out. Second, the strong applications will be marked as ‘Reviewed’ in the system, and the Institute will conduct a basic background check using Intelius. Third, Founders will be briefly interviewed and take a short test.
A number of good questions have come in over the last few days, and answers are below:
Can multiple co-founder apply?
Yes. We recommend limiting the number of co-founders in the program to three.
Can we submit more than one idea?
Up to you. At this phase of the application process, the Institute is more interested in the person, and less interested in the business.
Can I apply if I have an incorporated business?
Yes. The Institute will accept Founders from already incorporated businesses, preferably less than a couple years old.
