Founder Institute mentor, Adrian Vanzyl (Co-founder and CEO, Ardent Capital) has faith in Thailand’s entrepreneurs. So much so that he and his team deliberately established the firm’s home base in Bangkok, versus more popular options like Singapore and Hong Kong.
“Singapore has traditionally been the location of choice for most investors and, while Ardent is registered in Hong Kong, Bangkok remains its home. That’s irrespective of cultural and personal ties that Ardent’s founders maintain there — the Srivorakul brothers are American-Thai — Vanzyl says the firm is ‘very deliberately” located there because “it is the best first market to go into to prove things and then go and expand beyond.’”Adrian also did an interview with BK Asia on the potential in Thailand. According to The Next Web, “Ardent founders are perhaps among the most seasoned and successful in Thailand’s history, and they certainly rank highly when considering Southeast Asia as a whole.”

Founder Institute CEO, Adeo Ressi, shares similar sentiments. "Bangkok, and Thailand in general, is a very fast growing startup ecosystem,” says Ressi. “In just a matter of months, there has been a large influx of foreign venture capital into the region, and three major funding incubator programs have launched. We believe that the Founder Institute can play a vital role at the earliest stage of company development, in order to prepare founders to build enduring companies, using Silicon Valley best practices”
