The Institute has lined up three new world-class mentors to join the amazing team of CEOs already committed to the Summer 2009 Bay Area program. The goal is to provide participating Founders wth insights from leaders who have built great organizations. The three newest Mentors are...
- Michael Arrington is an entrepreneur and was the maintainer of TechCrunch, a blog covering the Silicon Valley technology start-up communities and the wider technology field in USA and elsewhere. Arrington was co-founder of Achex, an internet payments company, which was sold to First Data Corp for US$32 million and is now the back end of Western Union online. His other entrepreneurial endeavors include co-founding Zip.ca and Pool.com, acting as chief operating officer for Razorgator, and founding Edgeio. In 2008, he was selected by TIME Magazine as one of the most influential people in the world.
- James Hong is an active angel investor in Silicon Valley. James co-founded HOT or NOT, a popular service for singles to rate each other and meet. Before HOT or NOT, James was a Product Manager at Hewlett-Packard after receiving an Engineering Degree and an MBA from UC Berkeley.
- Jason Nazar is the Co-Founder and CEO of Docstoc.com, the premier online community to find and share professional documents. Before starting Docstoc, he was a partner in a venture consulting firm in Los Angeles where he worked with dozens of startups. He holds have a BA from UCSB and his JD/MBA from Pepperdine University, where he was the Student Body President of both Universities.
In addition, the Institute is trying to coordinate schedules with Tony Hsieh of Zappos to have him as a Mentor.
- Tony Hsieh is the current CEO of online shoe seller Zappos.com. Prior to joining Zappos, Hsieh co-founded and sold the internet advertising network LinkExchange to Microsoft for $265M in 1998. Hsieh graduated from Harvard University with a BA in Computer Science.
