Agents now give every emerging manager the operating polish of a much larger firm. Your pipeline stays current and your LP reporting goes out on time, without a back office behind it. So when every fund looks buttoned up, what are LPs actually underwriting?
The answer is the part no agent can do for you. In this session, we go straight to the source to hear what moves an LP from a first meeting to a signed commitment. Expect a candid look at the signals that earn trust in a first-time manager and the red flags that quietly end a conversation early.
We'll also cover how the agentic shift is changing LP expectations. Faster updates and self-serve reporting are becoming the baseline. LPs are paying closer attention to how you spend the hours your agents give back: building conviction in your market and stewarding their capital the way they would steward it themselves.
Whether you're preparing for your first LP meeting or sharpening a pitch you've already taken on the road, you'll leave knowing what to lead with. Registration is free. Reserve your spot and bring your questions for live Q&A.
Meet the speakers
This session brings together investors, founders, and LP advisors to unpack what actually earns an LP’s commitment:
- Gary Ireland — Investor/Angel Investor/Fund Investor, The Ireland Group
Gary has been a business owner and investor in Silicon Valley for more than 25 years. His career spans global football, early-stage technology, and philanthropy. He co-owns Soccerbook Consulting, which advises global investors on the technical, commercial, and financial sides of the football industry. He has also held advisory roles at startups. In 2012 he was named to the Advance 50 for helping Australian innovators commercialize and expand globally, and he brings a seasoned investor’s read on which managers earn trust. - Gary Gitelson — LP Advisory Board Member, Kembol Ventures
Gary sits on the LP Advisory Board at Kembol Ventures. He is also a Partner at IASV Seed Ventures and a member of Band of Angels, so he sees how capital gets committed at both the fund and startup level. Before investing, he spent 25+ years building and scaling engineering teams at Cisco, Google, and VMware and at two consumer-electronics startups. Now the founder of Prohana, he brings three perspectives: operator, angel, and LP advisor. - Moderator: Kelly Schricker — Head of Programs, Decile Group
Kelly works inside the venture ecosystem every day at Decile Group, where she supports emerging managers across VC Lab, scouts deals, and has hosted many of the program’s most popular sessions. A VC Lab community leader herself, she’ll keep the conversation candid, practical, and focused on what managers can actually use.
