The Opportunity

There are few better vantage points on the entire global startup ecosystem than the Founder Institute, and that ecosystem is about to grow exponentially. We already work with institutional partners spanning corporations, governments, universities, and platforms, and demand to reach founders at global scale has never been higher. Our portfolio of 9,000+ companies represents one of the largest and most diverse collections of early-stage ventures in the world, along with one of the most underutilized alumni networks in the industry.

As Director of Portfolio Success, you will own the relationship between FI and its graduates. You will identify the companies breaking out, connect them to the investors and resources they need, and ensure that FI is the organization founders credit when they ring the bell. This role is for someone who has been in the trenches, who has raised money, deployed it, or scaled something, and who can sit across from a founder and be genuinely useful.

About the Role

You will own the full post-graduation founder experience: from identifying high-potential alumni to building the relationships that make FI matter long after the program ends. You will manage our portfolio tracking and investor update cycles, route deal flow to our investment partners, and rebuild the kind of white-glove engagement that turns graduates into lifelong FI advocates.

This is a 100% remote, full-time role with core hours of 7 AM to Noon Pacific Time for team overlap and live events.

Responsibilities

• Own the alumni relationship, proactively identify high-potential graduates and build genuine, ongoing connections with the founders who matter most to the portfolio

• Manage deal flow routing to investment partners including Decile, Loyal VC, and Founder Capital

• Lead the Select Portfolio investor update cycle, compile and distribute biannual updates across multiple fund vehicles tracking 25+ companies each

• Conduct ongoing portfolio audits to surface breakout companies, flag equity relevant developments, and keep portfolio data current

• Serve as a credible advisor to active founders on fundraising strategy, investor introductions, and scaling decisions

• Manage partner relationships and alumni benefits (fi.co/partners), identifying and activating perks that drive real value for graduates

• Collaborate with the leadership, marketing, and operations teams, as well as Local Leaders running chapters globally

• Develop and maintain systems for tracking alumni progress, investor introductions, and outcomes

Requirements

Required:

• Availability during core hours of 7 AM to Noon Pacific Time.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication, with business-level fluency in English.

• Direct experience in the startup ecosystem as a founder, investor, or operator, with the credibility to advise active founders

• Proven ability to manage relationships across a large, distributed network

• Strong organizational skills and comfort owning complex, recurring operational cycles

• Internet and computer savvy, genuinely comfortable using AI tools in daily work

Preferred:

• Experience raising or deploying capital (angel, seed, or fund level)

• Background at an accelerator, venture fund, or portfolio support function

• Familiarity with warrant structures, cap tables, and early-stage investment mechanics

• Experience with Google Suite, CRM tools, and AI-assisted workflows

Offering

• Competitive compensation of $65,000–$75,000 based on experience
