An oversubscribed fund rarely starts with the biggest network in the room. More often, it starts with a narrow, carefully chosen group of LPs who already believe in the thesis. It also needs a process that keeps momentum building from the first commitment to the final close.
In this Meet the Managers session, VC Lab managers who closed their funds oversubscribed walk through exactly how they did it. They'll share how they chose which LPs to pursue first and how they turned early commitments into urgency for everyone else. They'll also get honest about what changed when demand started to outgrow the fund, and how they decided who got an allocation.

This is what fundraising looks like in the era of the agentic fund. Agents can now keep every prospect moving and benchmark your funnel against the rest of the cohort. That frees up more of your week for the conversations that actually create demand, which is exactly where these managers spent their time.

Whether you're working toward a first close or pushing past your target, you'll leave with tactics you can use in your next LP meeting. Registration is free. Reserve your spot and bring your questions for live Q&A.

Meet the speakers
This session brings together three VC Lab managers who raised past their targets to unpack how they built demand for their funds:
  • Jessica Kamada - Founder & Managing Partner, Swizzle Ventures
Jessica closed Swizzle’s $6.6M Fund I at more than double her initial target. The Seattle-based fund backs founders in women’s health, caregiving, and financial health. Before venture, she spent a decade as a growth operator, including years as COO of the marketing agency Bamboo, helping companies like Uber, DoorDash, and the New York Times scale their mobile audiences. A former competitive figure skater, she brings a growth marketer’s playbook to building LP demand.
  • Marlon Ramirez - Managing Partner, Blue Impact Supply Chain Ventures
Marlon recently closed Blue Impact’s Fund II oversubscribed, at roughly $6.5M on a $5M target. The fund backs seed-stage founders building sustainable supply chains across freight, logistics, and transportation tech. An exited founder with 20+ years in logistics, he co-founded one of Latin America’s largest airlines and has advised and invested in 20+ startups across Latin America and the US. Because his LP base is built from logistics company owners, he brings a firsthand view of how domain-expert LPs come to back a manager.
  • Seth Hallen - Founder, Hallstone Ventures
Seth closed Hallstone Fund I oversubscribed past its $10M target in 12 months, a full year ahead of his original fundraising window. Hallstone is a Los Angeles-based seed fund. He built a base of roughly 70 LPs, almost all senior technology and operating leaders from the studios, streamers, agencies, and Big Tech companies at the center of his media-infrastructure thesis. Before Hallstone, he spent 25 years in media technology, with leadership roles at Sony, Panavision’s Light Iron, Pixelogic, and Testronic, plus nine years as President of the Hollywood Professional Association. He was a top performer in VC Lab Cohort 16 and brings a step-by-step look at casting an LP base that already believes in the thesis.
  • Moderator: Kelly Schricker - Head of Programs, Decile Group
Kelly works inside the venture ecosystem every day at Decile Group, where she supports emerging managers across VC Lab, scouts deals, and has hosted many of the program’s most popular sessions. A VC Lab community leader herself, she’ll keep the conversation candid, practical, and focused on what managers can actually use.
