    About the Event

    About the Biomimicry Institute:
The Biomimicry Institute empowers people to create nature-inspired solutions for a healthy planet, with a goal of pushing biomimicry towards becoming a natural part of the design process. The Biomimicry Institute’s Global Design Challenge mobilizes tens of thousands of practitioners with the support of the Global Biomimicry Network, and provides practitioners with AskNature, a tool to begin the solution process. They support entrepreneurs in bringing their nature-inspired designs to market through the Biomimicry Launchpad program and Ray of Hope Prize, and anticipate the new biomimetic innovations that result will help to build a healthier world for all.
    About our Guest Speaker:
Jared Yarnall-Shane is Entrepreneurship Director at the Biomimicry Institute, and leverages his entrepreneurial background and startup coaching experience for the goal of commercializing biomimicry innovations. Before joining the Institute, Jared developed and ran programs with Penn State University’s incubator and accelerator programs, and was the Program Director of Thought For Food. He has directly worked with hundreds of social impact startups from around the world, helping them to secure a combined $25+ million in funding along the way. Jared was an initial founding member of GreenTowers, and has started a small food preservation company in rural Kenya. He has an Executive Certificate in Social Impact Strategy from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University.
