In Silicon Valley, where startup ecosystems are highly competitive, early-stage founders often face numerous obstacles when it comes to legal support. Many startups are hesitant to invest in expensive legal services early on, delaying critical legal decisions that could later impact their business growth and scalability. Wilson Sonsini wanted to reach these founders at the earliest possible stages, before they engaged other legal services, to ensure they received the right advice early on.

Wilson Sonsini launched Founder University, a two-day program designed to educate founders in the post-seed to pre-Series A stage. Developed in partnership with Wilson Sonsini and FI, the SAFE addressed many of the complexities and risks associated with convertible debt, aligning the interests of both founders and investors. This innovative financing tool quickly became a standard in the startup ecosystem and has been widely adopted by thousands of startups around the world.
