Good, honest feedback is one of the most valuable things a startup founder can come by, says Gabe Zichermann of Gamification Co. The last thing you need is more people saying, “that’s a great idea”.

In the video below, Zichermann offers tips for new entrepreneurs and shares the inspiration behind the Founder Institute. “You need trusted, honest people who have your back, but who also have the experience to give you honest feedback in early days so that you can go the distance,” he says. This is what makes the program so unique. It's what you're not going to get from your mom, your friends, or your spouse.

Gabe Zichermann is an author, highly rated public speaker and entrepreneur. He is the chair of the Gamification Summit and editor of the industry’s leading publication, The Gamification Blog. He is a director and mentor for the New York Founder Institute.

Below is a breakdown of what Gabe covers in the talk;

0.0  The premise behind the Founder Institute
2.22  Why you need real, honest feedback
4:35  Convincing others to join you
5:25  Negative and positive feedback
7:10  Whose advice should you take?
14:20  Nobody is going to steal your idea

To hear more from Gabe, watch the video below, and join him this Winter where he will be leading and mentoring for the New York Founder Institute. Final applications are due Sunday, (Mar 02, 2025). Click here to learn more and begin your application now.
