Jauntin’, a Graduate of the Toronto Founder Institute, recently placed second at Web Summit, the largest technology conference in the world. This event brought together tens of thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, corporate leaders, technology experts, and others in Lisbon, Portugal. Since launching in 2010, Web Summit has become the premier global gathering for the world’s most disruptive technology companies from across all industries.
This prestigious event featured the founders and CEOs from more than 2,000 of the world’s most promising tech startups, highlighting their innovative products and services throughout Web Summit’s ALPHA, BETA, and START tracks. Also at the event was 1,200 world-class speakers, 1,400 tech investors, and 2,600 international members of the media.
And of course, Jauntin’ was right there among them, showing them how we do innovation at the Founder Institute.
Founded by Rainer Takahashi, Jauntin’ is a travel insurance company that specializes in mobile and AI technologies, focusing on the distribution of insurance products through mobile technologies and automation of operations including, actuarial, and claims processing.
Their platform provides an opportunity for insurance companies to accelerate their participation in the emerging world of insurtech by white-labelling the platform to fit within its trusted brand. JAUNTIN’ also allows insurance companies to collect never before available location data on their customers, which can be optimized to provide competitive pricing, as well as better risk data.
But Jauntin’ doesn’t only streamline the process for insurance companies - it also caters to customers, especially millennials who like to travel. Jauntin’ allows customers to turn their insurance on and off with a swipe of the finger on their mobile device screen, eliminating the lengthy and antiquated insurance purchase path. And to make things even easier, it also ensures that policy and contact information are all easily accessible through any mobile device.
Jauntin’ is clearly designed by someone who understands the hobbies and wanderlust of the millennial demographic; in addition to serving as the CEO of Jauntin’, Rainer is a dancer, a martial artist, a surfer and snowboarder, and operates a travel blog called Rain Travels; and CTO and co-founder Ian Cumming is a serial entrepreneur whose last startup, Travel Massive, is the world's largest travel industry network in the world.
