San Diego Founder Institute grad, Mike Suprovici, CEO of Explorence, was recently featured on All Things Digital to talk about his cool new app TorchDash. Explorence is a platform designed to bring video games outdoors while encouraging social interaction, challenges, and physical fitness. TorchDash incorporates all of these elements by allowing users anywhere in the world to race against one another by recording a walk or a run, then allowing the user to challenge a friend to beat their time.
Similar to apps like SongPop and Draw Something, TorchDash differentiates itself by enabling friends to compete against each other without requiring them to be online at the same time. They also get users off the couch and out into the real world; a difficult feat for anyone attached to playing Xbox or Nintendo Wii in the comfort of their own living room. With our love for social interaction and competition, apps like TorchDash have the potential to revolutionize the way we play games, walk to work, or even conduct an interview or business meeting. While explaining how the app worked, Mike took journalist Liz Gannes for a ‘run’ with TorchDash, and although they lost their challenge by a mere 5 seconds, it got them out of the office and on their feet.
CEO Mike Suprovici is a graduate of the San Diego Founder Institute, which is currently accepting applications for the upcoming Autumn semester.
