The Founder Institute, the world's largest entrepreneur training and startup launch program, has helped create more than 150 new technology companies from its Silicon Valley chapter in just over 6 years. Since its launch in 2009, FI has contributed greatly to the local startup ecosystem while providing mentorship from some of the top entrepreneurs in the technology industry.

Applications are currently open for the Summer 2015 semester of the Silicon Valley Founder Institute.

While all of the Silicon Valley Founder Institute graduates are exceptional, there are a few who stood out in 2014. The graduates featured below have all achieved significant milestones in the past year, building meaningful and enduring technology companies aimed at improving the lives of people all over the world.

Emberlight, and Founder Atif Noori

Emberlight is an a home automation product that turns any light into a smart light. Last fall, Emberlight raised over $300,000 on Kickstarter, well past their $50,000 goal, and were featured on TechCrunch.

Getable, and Founder Tim Hyer

Getable serves the construction rental market with mobile tools designed for construction professionals and rental equipment providers. Getable recently secured a $5 million Series A round.

MovieLaLa, and Founder Sahin Boydas

MovieLaLa is a redesigned social platform for movie lovers. Last year, CEO of Salesforce Marc Benioff invested in MovieLaLa, bringing the startup to $750,000 in funding.

Retailigence, and Founder Jeremy Geiger

Retailigence localizes all forms of digital marketing to increase engagement, foot-traffic, and revenue for retailers and brands. In 2014, Retailigence partnered with the Gannett-owned PointRoll, the leading multi-screen digital advertising technology and services company.

Spikes Security, and Founder Branden Spikes

Spikes is a security company that virtualizes the browser to provide corporate IT managers with a secure infrastructure. The company made major progress last fall when they raised $11 million in funding.

TrustLeaf, and Founder Anson Liang

TrustLeaf helps small businesses raise money from friends and family. Their unique service attracted considerable attention from numerous media channels, including Entrepreneur, Small Business Trends, and Smart Hustle.

Telecure, and Founder Garick Hismatullin

Telecure provides broad access to reliable healthcare by offering on-demand telemedical consultations at reasonable prices. Early last year, Telecure launched their innovative “Pay-With-A-Tweet” program to offer free urgent care in exchange for a tweet or Facebook post.

Udemy, and Founders Gagan BiyaniEren Bali

Udemy is a digital marketplace for online courses. They reached a significant milestone late last year when they enrolled their 5 millionth student.

Whale Path, and Founders Artem GassanColin Gu

Whale Path is an on-demand research platform where professionals can order business research from a group of qualified and vetted postgraduate students. Last fall, Whale Path raised a respectable $1.1 million seed round.
