It's amazing to me how many startups look at marketing and media relations/ press outreach as "fluff." I'm writing a post about this now, but someone who probably understands this better than anyone is Marcelo Calbucci, who spoke at the Seattle Founder Institute last night. Marcelo is both the Co-founder/ CTO of a startup (EveryMove), while also the founder of a top tech news outlet (Seattle 2.0). In the vein of Mark Suster's "Both Sides of the Table", I guess you can say Marcelo sees "Both Sides of the Press Release"?

Cheesy analogies aside, check out his presentation below on "Getting your Startup Noticed." It has some gold nuggets on how to fight indifference and noise in the marketplace through specific strategies and tactics.
