Fika, a digital loyalty program designed for independent Coffee Shops, is seeing great growth in Montreal. First, they were elected as the best food startup in Montreal by 33entrepreneurs, a startup accelerator and global VC focusing on Tech StartUps disrupting the Wine & Spirits, Food and Travel industries. With this recognition, they have been invited to pitch at Bon Appetech, the premiere global conference on good food innovation.
In addition, they have also just been accepted into the third cohort of the FOOD-X Accelerator program. Founded in 2014, FOOD-X is the first international business accelerator program focused on launching food-related ventures with a multi-stage fund. From September to December, some members of the team will be based in New York, to develop, adapt and launch Fika there.
Fika is a Graduate of the Montreal Founder Institute.
Using Fika's app, coffee lovers can get a better price on their daily coffee in all of Fika’s independent coffee shop partners. Right from the app, users will be able to discover Coffee Shops around their GPS position, buy Fika Plans, and order Coffee straight from their phone at the participating Coffee Shops. Every time users buy coffee, they will earn Fika Points that they can redeem towards free coffees and rebates on additional subscriptions.
Fika aims to give small independent coffee shops the same technology that powers Starbucks at a price point they can afford. Through its digital loyalty program, coffee shops can increase their sales, improve their customer’s experience, and make the payment process more efficient.
Fika is currently available in Montreal, with their network covering a large area in Montreal from Villeray to downtown Montreal, and from Westmount to the Latin Quarter. They current have 22 Coffee shops in their network and are working on getting more.
In the following months, you can look forward to their launch in New York, with subsequent cities in the pipeline as well.
