The Founder Institute has now helped launch 750 companies across 40 cities worldwide. In terms of graduates and companies launched, this makes us the world's largest incubator - and we have done it just 4 years.
The Founder Institute was incorporated in April of 2009, and our first class from our first location - Silicon Valley - did not graduate until September of 2009. Now we operate in 40 cities across five continents, and are on pace to launch over 1,000 companies per year in over 50 cities worldwide.
So, how do we do it? Rather than bringing talent to Silicon Valley, we are going to different markets, gathering their best startup leaders, service providers, and most promising founders, and building local, sustainable, teamwork-based startup ecosystems. This model is working, and our vision of globalizing Silicon Valley is starting to take hold.
