The Founder Institute is an early-stage startup accelerator and global launch network that, in just three years of operation, has helped launch over 650 companies across 34 cities and five continents. Through our part-time four month program, existing and prospective founders can launch their dream company with expert training, feedback, and support from experienced startup CEOs - while not being required to quit their day job. Our unique Graduate Liquidity Pool also enables graduates and mentors to share in the equity upside of each class, creating strong teamwork-based startup ecosystems where great companies can flourish. We call it "Globalizing Silicon Valley."=
There are many reasons why the Founder Institute is setting up a chapter in Barcelona. Barcelona and the surrounding territories have always been characterized by their capacity to deal with complex situations through creativity, effort and entrepreneurial spirit, whilst preserving their unique culture and personality.
There is a significant opportunity to make Barcelona both a European and Global hub for entrepreneurship and innovation in areas of high added value. A combination of different elements make this possible: the positioning of the “Barcelona brand” and its products, entrepreneurial spirit and ingenuity of the local and international inhabitants, high level of tourism, high quality of life, creative and artistic recognition, gastronomy, culture, history, natural wealth and Mediterranean climate make Barcelona an ideal place for launching a global startup. Furthermore Barcelona serves as an ideal bridge between Spain and rest of the Spanish speaking community.
The Barcelona chapter will be lead by Urs Rothmayr and Oriol Bes. Urs is a Manager with more than 15 years of experience in multinational companies as well as start-ups in the field of Internet / E-business / E-commerce. Oriol has 18 years of experience in Business and IT and is now focused on easing startup and venture investment processes.
