In recent news, FI Grad and CEO of Pathgather, Eric Duffy, spoke to TechCrunch about his company’s vision and trajectory. Jonathan Schieber reports for TechCrunch in the article, “Pathgather Raises Looks to Bring Social Networking to Learning Management”.
Pathgather and its Founder Eric Duffy are Graduates of the New York Founder Institute.
Created to allow people to get the most out of what they learn online, Pathgather is a marketplace for online education that helps you discover and choose the right online courses for you. Pathgather provides a platform to create and implement learning paths, keep track of what you’re learning, and showcase your personal skills all within a social context.
Duffy was inspired to create Pathgather after spending time in a South African entrepreneurial program. The small community, excited to have the resources available to take classes, gave Duffy the idea to bring education to a more social setting:
That’s when I got the idea to find the best learning on the web. And make an app like a Kayak of learning, that would keep track of what you’re learning a la LinkedIn, and do it in a social context like Facebook."
Recently launched and backed by $1.5M in funding, Pathgather is now looking to improve the way management systems offer education in the workplace. Early stage funding from investors like Bloomberg Beta, Contour Ventures, and TechStars are helping to get this collaborative, interactive and easy-to-use platform to more and more companies, Qualcomm being just one recent company to bring Pathgather in-house.
