Feetz has raised $1.25 Million in seed funding, which has been reported by Timothy Hay in a Wall Street Journal article titled “Digital Cobbler’ Feetz Walks Off With $1.3 Million for 3-D Printed Shoes”.
Feetz and its Founder Lucy Beard is a Graduate of the San Diego Founder Institute.
Feetz provides custom footwear with 3-D printers, resulting in the perfect size shoe. The company uses a process called photogrammetry, which determines the exact foot size from several photos taken from an iPhone camera. Feetz uses an antimicrobial “jelly” material, similar to Crocs, to custom-develop their 3-D print pair of shoes.
Feetz’s seed funding investment was led by Khosla Ventures, and joined by JumpFund and former Reebok Inc. Chief Executive Uli Becker.
The company is presenting at the South by Southwest conference in Austin, Texas. Feetz aims to have an application up in the Apple Store in a matter of weeks that will enable consumers to order custom-printed shoes within a week for about $200.
