As a startup, trying to stand out in the crowd at South by Southwest is never an easy feat. From weeding your way through expos and demos to hacking your way on stage hoping to ‘wow’ an audience, startups are faced with nonstop challenges. For those who braved the sea of competition and came out on top - we salute you.
One startup that managed to stay afloat was San Diego Founder Institute grad, CityBot, who caught the attention of the VentureBeat team. CityBot, a mobile application that acts as an intelligent city planning guide, was chosen to participate in VentureBeat’s #WinSXSW Contest. Founder Greg Solovyev was on point while delivering his 30 second pitch and was quick to answer VentureBeat’s questions regarding high and low points in his entrepreneurial career.
In the end, CityBot won the top spot as Best Overall Startup and took home a ton of cool prizes as well as a few key VC introductions. Check out the video below to hear their pitch and for more coverage on the event, check out the full article on VentureBeat.
A big congratulations to CityBot for their success in Austin! Another FI company who impressed SXSW attendees was Los Angeles grad, Realty Mogul, who took first place at the HATCH Pitch Competition. The startup later went on to announce they had raised a $500k seed round.
