Adeo Ressi, Founder and CEO of the Founder Institute, is an eight-time entrepreneur who began his startup journey on the East Coast in the '90s during "Silicon Alley 1.0". From those experiences, Adeo learned many valuable lessons which he brought to the West Coast, where he is getting set to co-direct a special Silicon Valley semester of the Founder Institute.
Adeo recently talked with Maryam Banikarim of Fast Company to reflect on those early days where success required even greater sacrifice than it does today;
Back then, you had to want to live a different life because the sacrifices you had to make to be in a startup were enormous, especially a technology startup. There was very little money…You’re talking about a hostile operating environment at the time. You really were picking an alternative lifestyle over conventional lifestyles, and making great sacrifices to do so. Today that’s just not the case.”
