The purpose of this session is to introduce founders with presumably a very minimal knowledge of healthcare regulations, to the world of policy and regulation impacting stakeholders in the health ecocsetem whether provider systems, payers, health system end users, community based organizations or businesses.
Participants will learn about specific categories and types of health care regulations, who makes them, who is impacted by them, and how to develop a health tech product in light of them. You will also gain awareness of how existing products in the health tech space have been or could be shaped by policies and regulations. Many entities are creating regulations and compliance standards with a constant trickle-down effect of those regulations. The regulations also can create perverse incentives or greater inequities.
As equity becomes a big agenda item for the nation, it will also be important for founders to think about how policies and programs are being designed/redesigned to achieve improved outcomes for those historically marginalized communities/individuals.
As the assignment from this session founders will be asked to answer 3 questions and send their responses to team leads:
1)Which policies and regulations apply to your product?
2) How do these regulations impact your idea and set your roadmap?
3)What are some concrete ways you can you build awareness and proactive mindset around health care regulation into your company vision, customer development, business model and product development planning?
