Launch an AI Startup In Silicon Valley this Summer

Connecting Thai Founders with the US market and creating a bridge for market entry.

The Founder Institute partnered with Chulalongkorn University's CU Innovation Hub to launch the Chula -DC Silicon Startup Bridge Program, a 14-week startup accelerator followed by a 3-month Mentor In Residence coaching program, connecting Bangkok-based founders to global methodology and mentorship. The program selected 30 founders from 159 applicants and graduated 14 investor-ready companies ahead of the Demo Day in Bangkok, in August 2026.

Building a Rigorous, Globally Connected Accelerator Inside Thailand's Leading University Ecosystem
Chulalongkorn University is Thailand's oldest and most prestigious university and home to one of the country's most active innovation ecosystems through its CU Innovation Hub (CUiHub). In 2025, the Founder Institute joined forces with CUiHub to design and deliver the Chula – DC Silicon Startup Bridge Program, a 14-week hybrid accelerator giving Bangkok-based founders access to structured curriculum, a global mentor network, and the accountability framework that serious company-building requires. The program launched with an in-person kickoff on campus in Bangkok in December 2025, followed by 14 weekly virtual sessions through April 2026. Core acceleration program is followed by a -month long Mentor In Residence program where each startup is matched by one specific expert mentor to work with them closely to help them reach priority milestones.

The Challenge

Bangkok has a growing startup ecosystem, strong university talent, and solid institutional infrastructure. What it lacked was a program that combined structured, week-over-week accountability with access to a rigorous global mentor network, one that could take early-stage Thai founders from idea validation through investor-ready pitching in a single, cohesive experience. Most existing programs offered content without sustained follow-through, and founders building globally competitive companies had few local pathways to access the kind of honest, expert mentorship that serious ventures need. Chulalongkorn University wanted to change that for the broader Thai Tech Ecosystem, and needed a partner with the methodology and the global network to make it happen.

The Solution: Chula University Innovation Hub Program

The Founder Institute and Chulalongkorn University's CUiHub designed a program built around structured progress, meaningful mentor engagement, and a hybrid delivery model that kept the cohort connected across borders.

    In-Person Kickoff on Campus

The program launched with a multi-day in-person kickoff hosted at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok in December 2025. The event officially opened the accelerator and grounded the cohort in the university's innovation ecosystem from day one. It was preceded by a public recruitment event, "How to Fundraise and Scale Startups Globally," that drew 109 registered attendees in November 2025 and generated strong early interest in the program.

    Sprint-Based Curriculum via FounderGen

Founders submitted weekly sprint deliverables through the FounderGen platform across the Launch, Traction, and Validate tracks, covering idea validation, business model development, go-to-market strategy, and pitch preparation. Sprint completion, mentor feedback, and attendance were tracked by the Program Director from week one, keeping founders on track and accountable throughout.

    Two Formal Milestone Reviews

A Mentor Idea Review and an Investor Progress Review served as structured checkpoints across the program. Following the first review, 10 founders were assigned Epic Sprint tasks to address identified gaps, and all completed them. After the second review, 6 founders received Epic Sprint assignments. The milestone structure ensured that every graduating founder had demonstrated consistent progress and genuine investor readiness.

    Leadership, Media & Founder Well-Being

Special sessions prepared founders for media appearances, public presentations, and industry events, including communication coaching and structured checkpoints for intentional public engagement. The program also integrated a mental health professional to support emotional regulation, resilience, and work–life balance, an uncommon but critical element of the program design.

50+ Mentor Network and Office Hours

More than 50 mentors participated in sessions and through dedicated office hours, bringing a range of perspectives that reflected real-world startup environments across sectors and geographies. Active founders collectively booked 40 office hours across the cohort, averaging 5 sessions per founder.

Mentors in Residence and Coaching Period

All 14 graduates continued into an optional post-program coaching period, each matched with a dedicated Mentor in Residence (MIR) from the FI global network. MIRs work directly with their assigned founders on fundraising preparation, product refinement, and investor readiness, building on the progress made during the core program.

    Demo Day, August 2026

All 14 graduating founders will pitch live at Demo Day in August 2026, with mentors and investors in attendance. Founders retain access to their FounderGen dashboards to continue refining their materials right up to the event.

Key Takeaways

The CUiHub 2026 program connected Bangkok-based founders to world-class mentorship, global curriculum, and the accountability structure needed to build investor-ready companies.

Results

The CUiHub 2026 program delivered a structured, globally connected accelerator experience for Bangkok-based founders, combining Chulalongkorn University's institutional credibility with the Founder Institute's proven curriculum and mentor network. It established a replicable model for university-anchored startup acceleration in Thailand and laid the groundwork for a program built to grow.

What's Next

Building on a strong inaugural cohort, the Founder Institute and Chulalongkorn University are committed to establishing CUiHub as a recurring, sustainable program that grows in reach and impact with every cycle.

The immediate next milestone is Demo Day in August 2026, where all 14 graduates will pitch live to mentors and investors after completing their coaching period with dedicated Mentors in Residence. Twelve of the 14 graduates have already selected their MIRs and are actively refining their materials.

Looking ahead, future cohorts will build on the lessons of the first cycle, including earlier recruitment relative to the university academic calendar, deeper FounderGen onboarding from week one, and expanded outreach through CU's faculty and alumni networks. Through the continued partnership between the Founder Institute and Chulalongkorn University, CUiHub will grow its footprint across Bangkok's startup ecosystem and deepen Thailand's connection to the global founder community.
