Founder Institute Launches 26th Chapter: Puerto Rico
Today we are excited to announce our 26th location - San Juan, Puerto Rico! The first ever Puerto Rico Founder Institute is just around the corner, as the 4-month program is slated to start on May 23rd. The program is open to existing and prospective technology founders of all kinds - with or without an idea, young or old, and with a full-time job or unemployed.
If you or someone you know could benefit from expert training and feedback to launch a technology startup in Puerto Rico, click here to apply. The Final Application Deadline is Sunday, May 13th.
There are many reasons why the Founder Institute is setting up shop in Puerto Rico. San Juan is a vibrant city with a nascent entrepreneurship community centered around the newly formed Startups of Puerto Rico initiative. On the same time zone and just a 3.5 hr flight from New York City, Puerto Rico serves as an ideal bridge between the U.S. and Latin American market.
In addition, Puerto Rico is a U.S. jurisdiction that is not subject to federal corporate or personal income tax, giving startup founders and investors the chance for creating a tax-free sustainable company or exit. A low cost of living, bilingual workforce, and access to a huge technical talent pool make it sn ideal place for launching a global startup.
The Puerto Rico chapter will be lead by Ramphis Castro and Marcos Polanco. Ramphis is the Founder and CEO of TainoApp, and is also a global facilitator for Startup Weekend, Curator for TEDxSanJuan, and Founding Member of Startups of Puerto Rico - all focused on growing a vibrant tech startup community in the Caribbean. Marcos is a Standford graduate and serial entrepreneur, currently the Founder and CEO of Clearshore.
Expected Mentors for the program include;
- Adeo Ressi, Founder of the Founder Institute
- Ramphis Castro, CEO & Co-Founder of TainoApp
- Marcos Polanco, CEO & Founder of Clearshore
- Giovanni Collazo, CEO & Co-Founder of Blimp
- And many more to be announced.
