#FounderShowcase Finalist Blueseed Featured in @TechCrunch to Announce Floodgate Funding
Blueseed, a participant of the 10th Founder Showcase, was recently featured on TechCrunch after it was announced that Mike Maples of Floodgate will be investing in the first closing ($300k) of their $700k seed round. Geared towards tackling strict US immigration policies, Blueseed plans to build a sea platform approximately 30 miles off the coast of San Francisco where startup entrepreneurs who aren’t able to obtain visas can have access to Silicon Valley.
Since their debut last year, the team has received an overwhelmingly positive response to the project, including applications from over 1100 individuals throughout 64 countries. They also have several committed partners including Pillsbury Law and Fenwick & West.
Maples’ comments on the investment: “Floodgate has invested in Blueseed because we think it is critical to find new ways to empower the smartest and most talented people in the world to come together to build great companies without being encumbered by arcane work visa restrictions. We want to be part of the solution however we can and we love the Blueseed team’s willingness to tackle this problem in a totally original and ambitious way.”
