AirDroids, a startup founded by San Diego Founder Institute graduate Chance Roth, was recently announced as a recipient of the Alpha Award at this year's LAUNCH Festival, an event that brought together 50 different companies to launch their venture on stage in front of an audience of more than 5,000. The story was covered by Will Schmidt for the San Francisco edition of Tech Cocktail.

Other winners of the LAUNCH Festival included Dattch, Cstm, HandUp, Adaptics, Vue, Flyr, and more.

The success of AirDroids is based on its personal pocket drone, which can follow its owner, carry a high definition camera, and be folded into a backpack for easy transport and storage. The pocket drone can be controlled by a standard RC controller or Android tablet, and has an integrated GPS waypoint autopilot feature. AirDroids has received press from numerous major media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Popular Science, The Washington Post, and others.
