Earlier today, GeekWire reported that Guy Kawasaki will join the board of publishing startup, Writer.ly. Kawasaki is a Silicon Valley venture capitalist who is best known for being one of Apple's orginal employees.

As a best-selling author himself, Kawasaki believes Writer.ly is a 'great solution' for the changing publishing market. “Publishing isn’t dead. It’s just changing. And, as more authors self-publish their books, they will need to find editors, designers, and publicists. Writer.ly is a great solution for this need,” he said.

Writer.ly is a graduate of the Seattle Founder Institute and was a finalist at the 12th Founder Showcase. Led by Abby Carter and Kelsye Nelson, the platform provides an online marketplace where writers can find jobs and post work in hopes of getting published. Since their launch in mid 2012, Writer.ly has caught the attention of media and influencers like Kawasaki who are intrigued by their approach to the publishing industry.

A big win for the Writer.ly team, Nelson remarked “We’re incredibly pleased and honored that Guy has taken an interest in Writer.ly. For any writer that wants to publish, there is a way. Those who are willing to improve their craft, put effort into promotion and get help where they need it are bound for success. Guy gets it...“We are most definitely on the same page when it comes to the new publishing revolution. Getting him on board was remarkably easy.”
