e27’s Coffee Chat series focuses on promising entrepreneurs from Vietnam’s budding startup scene. This week, Founder Institute Graduate MT Quan of Beeketing sat down with Bobby Liu to talk about the importance of pushing through difficulties to achieve progress. Beeketing is a marketing platform that helps online sellers create marketing campaigns effectively and easily through automation.
Beeketing and its Founder MT Quan are Graduates of the Hanoi Founder Institute.
Here’s what Quan had to say about his personal entrepreneurial journey:
On getting started
Quan has definitely learned lessons the hard way. He didn’t hesitate to admit that a huge obstacle to his company’s success in the beginning was failing to provide solid market research and not understanding what his potential customers really needed. Starting up in Vietnam, Quan initially struggled to figure out how to best provide customer service to his global customers outside of the country. But persistence has paid off for Beeketing:
Do really good market research before starting any new business and aim for a bigger marketplace, make sure that there are people that need the products and then reach them....I think because of these lessons learnt and improvements implemented, Beeketing is now gaining good traction.”
Don’t be afraid to pivot
When Quan’s previous startup Selling Tribe was failing to gain the traction he was hoping for, Quan realized how difficult it was for some small businesses to keep customers coming back. His own experience in marketing for early-stage companies inspired Beeketing as a way to help these small businesses run campaigns easily and automatically.
I deeply understand that pain [of trying to gain traction]. I used to spend thousands of hours getting my business in shape, and I know that plenty of businesses out there are also struggling with this.”
Go for it
Even when things are tough, Quan underscored the importance of staying with your vision:
The hard part is making your business become a success. This can be learnt along the way even if you don’t have any experience. All you need is a strong will and a desire to learn.”
