Biomimicry is an approach to innovation that looks to nature as a source of solutions to human problems. The concept applies design thinking directly, by mimicking the principles and processes found in the natural world, towards the constraints of human design challenges. Join us to learn about biomimicry through an exploration of theory and case studies with Jared Yarnall-Schane, Entrepreneurship Director at the Biomimicry Institute, and get answers to your questions about how to apply the concepts of biomimicry in your own work.
About the Biomimicry Institute:
The Biomimicry Institute empowers people to create nature-inspired solutions for a healthy planet, with a goal of pushing biomimicry towards becoming a natural part of the design process. The Biomimicry Institute’s Global Design Challenge mobilizes tens of thousands of practitioners with the support of the Global Biomimicry Network, and provides practitioners with AskNature, a tool to begin the solution process. They support entrepreneurs in bringing their nature-inspired designs to market through the Biomimicry Launchpad program and Ray of Hope Prize, and anticipate the new biomimetic innovations that result will help to build a healthier world for all.
