Washington DC Autumn 2013
Sessions: 2013-11-19 - 2014-03-04
Our vision is to Globalize Silicon Valley by creating and fostering local startup ecosystems in promising markets across the globe. We aim to help launch 1,000 technology companies per year in over 75 cities worldwide.
The Founder Institute hosts several free Startup Bootcamp events in cities around the world, to help aspiring local entrepreneurs to improve both their startup ideas and pitch, and to meet co-founders (see the list of currently scheduled events here).
Last week we hosted a Startup Pitch Bootcamp event in Brussels, and FI Graduate Christoph Philemotte wrote a blog post sharing the biggest takeaways he had from the event. Read the article here.
There are three major trends we are seeing in the emerging technology boom: rapid scale, expedited startup M&A, and a global market. The Founder Showcase, hosted by the Founder Institute's Adeo Ressi, will bring together leaders to address each of these topics.
Here we give you a preview of what you'll see at the event, with videos from Keynote Speakers Kevin Hartz and Dan Shapiro, as well as a special video by Arcimoto.
The 9th Founder Showcase featured on-stage interviews with some of today's most respected startup investors and technology journalists; Evelyn Rusli of The New York Times interviewing Mark Suster of GRP Partners, Ina Fried of All Things Digital interviewing Mike Maples Jr. of FLOODGATE, and Alexia Tsotsis of TechCrunch interviewing Dave McClure of 500 Startups.
The 10th Founder Showcase is scheduled for Tuesday, April 24th in San Francisco.
At last week's 9th Founder Showcase, we celebrated the best investors of 2011 with TheFunded.com's Entrepreneur Investor Awards.
Ben Horowitz of Andreessen Horowitz, George Zachary of Charles River Ventures, Philippe Herbert of Banexi Venture Partners, Yuri Milner of Mail.ru Group, and Dave McClure of 500 Startups all received awards.
Last Thursday, over 300 people gathered in Silicon Valley for the 9th Founder Showcase, hosted by TheFunded.com and the Founder Institute. At the event, 8 companies competed on stage in a free pitch competition, and taking the Grand Prize was Michael Mayernick and Spinnakr - a service for displaying targeted messaging on your website based on the specific audience segments. Click here to see the video of their pitch.
The 9th Founder Showcase is scheduled for January 19th in Mountain View, CA, and for the first time will feature TheFunded.com’s Entrepreneur Investor Awards, where we will celebrate the best investors of 2011.
So, without further ado, here are the finalists for the 2011 TheFunded.com Entrepreneur Investor Awards...
The Founder Showcase, hosted by the Founder Institute's Adeo Ressi, is Silicon Valley's Premier Seed-Stage Startup Event.
The 9th Founder Showcase is now scheduled for January 19th at Microsoft's Mountain View Campus, and for the first time will feature TheFunded.com’s Entrepreneur Investor Awards, where we will celebrate the best investors of 2011. All in all, this will be our most exclusive event yet - with just 175 tickets available to the general public.
It's "application season" as we call it here at the Founder Institute, and we're gearing up for great Autumn and Winter Semesters in over 10 cities. If you're interested in the Founder Institute - or if you just want to improve your idea or pitch - join us for one of the events we're hosting in Paris, Brussels, Washington D.C., San Diego, Chicago or London.
Not only are these events completely free, but you'll even get $50 in Elance credit just for attending!
