PetHub, a company that allows you to utilize technology to track and care for your pets in a number of different ways, yesterday announced the close of a $1.3 million seed-round. On the heels of shipping over 50,000 of their QR-code enabled pet tags, the company plans to use the new funding to add sales and marketing staff to go after big distribution and licensing opportunities. The company and its Founder, Tom Arnold, are Graduates of the Seattle Founder Institute.
According to Perez, "The company uses a combination of online pet profiles and scannable ID tags that allow anyone with a mobile phone to quickly access everything there is to know about the pet, including the owners’ contact information, the pet’s allergies and medications, dietary needs, immunizations, vet insurance details and more."
PetHub's service begins at just a one-time fee of $12.95, with the option of premium monthly subscription for advanced features like GPS data, insurance plans for your pets, and more.
In addition to being an FI Graduate, Tom also competed in the 9th Founder Showcase in January. You can see the video of his pitch below;
