Grad Profile: Bubobox helps businesses convert users to brand ambassadors
Grad Profiles highlight the personal and professional stories of Founder Institute Graduates from across the globe.
This profile on Bubobox, a graduate of the Brussels Founder Institute, was written by Emma Tzeng. Founded in 2011 by Koen Stevens and Bert Cells, Bubobox is a virtual, interactive video platform for enterprises to engage customers.
Video sharing is certainly creating a ripple in online media. With the inception of built-in webcams on personal computers and the widespread accessibility of the Internet, creating and sharing videos is now as simple as hitting “Record” and “Submit.”
Riding the wave of user-created and -curated online video, startup Bubobox offers a virtual, interactive online video platform for enterprise. With Bubobox, organizations can set up personalized pages to engage customers through online testimonial video sharing and video contests. HR departments can also use Bubobox to screen job candidates through video question-and-answer clips.
Launched in January, the Bubobox Video Suite consists of three components, including the Video Testimonial Tool, the Video Brand Campaign Tool, and HR Solutions. The Video Testimonial Tool enables customers to record and submit brand testimonials directly from an organization’s website or app, while the Video Brand Campaign Tool makes it easy for organizations to collect these user-generated testimonial videos and host contests and giveaways for participating customers. To streamline HR processes, the HR Solutions tool allows HR departments and hiring managers to invite candidates to submit self-recorded videos for job considerations, adding another, more personal layer to the job applicant screening process.
Founded by Koen Stevens and Bert Cells in Belgium, Bubobox is currently offered to new users on an invitation, trial basis. According to Stevens and Cells, video is a richer, more interactive medium than text, which is why the two founders chose to build Bubobox around video sharing. User-submitted testimonial videos can be placed on a brand’s web store, for instance, to draw in potential customers seeking a candid product or business review in real time.
In essence, Bubobox wants to help businesses convert potential and existing customers into brand ambassadors through online engagement. The startup certainly possesses the technological know-how to pioneer this new wave of brand advocacy through video sharing; and it’s only a matter of time before brands begin to adopt its practices into their digital marketing strategies.
