Grad Profile: @LookVook offers an interactive, profit-generating video experience

Posted by Emma Tzeng on 2012-09-19

Grad Profiles highlight the personal and professional stories of Founder Institute Graduates from across the globe.

This profile on LookVook, a Graduate of the Seattle Founder Institute, was written by Emma Tzeng. Founded in 2010 by Jordan Philips, LookVook enables businesses to bring their videos to life and engage customers with its unique, interactive platform.

These days, online video sharing is more widespread than ever. Platforms such as YouTube and Ustream make it possible to share videos in real-time across multiple channels, and users are tuning in from across the globe. In light of the obvious popularity of online videos, it makes sense that businesses should try to leverage video sharing as a way to generate publicity and profit.

Startup LookVook wants to do exactly that with its interactive video client. With LookVook’s product, consumers can interact with and make purchases within video media. In this way, the startup blends e-commerce with multimedia content to produce a unique, highly interactive experience that generates revenue for businesses and advertisers and a personalized shopping experience for users.

Founded in 2010 by Jordan Philips, a brand strategy expert and graphic designer, LookVook is a self-service platform that allows users to upload files through third-party clients such as YouTube, Brightcove, and Spotify, and add their own custom content and branding to videos and video players. Essentially, the aim is to deliver an elegant viewing experience and drive sales and viewer responses.

Each year, the retail sector generates around $152 billion through e-commerce platforms. Essentially, LookVook seeks to capitalize on this trend by taking it a step further, catching video viewers at the height of their emotion and enabling them to instantaneously click through and purchase products as they appear in the video.

Businesses using the LookVook platform can also measure the progress and success of their video campaigns through the platform’s built-in analytics reports, which displays the user’s most popular content and viewer interactions in real time.

Seeing as how e-commerce has revolutionized the way people shop, it doesn’t seem too much of a stretch to predict that an interactive video platform such as LookVook could very well change the fact of online purchasing and video production.
