In 2011, we introduced the Female Founder Fellowship program, which would provide free Course Fees to our best female applicants in each city. The stated goal of the program was to increase the number of female applicants to program, and in turn, graduate over 30% female-founded companies across the globe.

After two years we are happy to report more great results from the Female Founder Fellowship program;

  • Since the program began, we have seen a 62% global increase in our percentage of female graduates, which has now reached 26% worldwide.
  • Our most recent Spring and Summer 2012 Graduating classes consisted of 36% female founded-companies.
  • We have now graduated over 150 female-led companies across the globe, including notable ones like CakeHealth, Zirtual, Fashioning Change, Skimble, Memetales, Ecobold, Kindara, Piggybackr, and 2RedBeans.

Our percentage of female graduates is more than twice as high as most other incubators, but still short of our goal to get over 30% female graduates worldwide. There is still plenty of work to be done.

There are Female Fellowships available in many Founder Institute programs across the globe. To learn more, visit http://fi.co/contents/fff.

Any female who follows the guidelines will be automatically eligible for the Female Founder Fellowship. The Institute will then select the most extraordinary applicant for each chapter, and give them the opportunity to enroll in the program for free.
The recipient of the Female Founder Fellowship will be
recognized as a female with the utmost potential to become a succesful technology entrepreneur, and they will be notified
within 72 hours after the Early Application Deadline.

This is not about providing special treatment - the majority of applicants to the Founder Institute do not get accepted, and this will always be the case because we employ a quantitative Predictive Admissions Test in our application process. This test was specifically designed, and is constantly calibrated, to identify entrepreneurial personality traits and remove all forms of subjective bias. The program is simply designed to grow the number of female applicants, which will ultimately lead to more female-founded technology companies across the globe.
