Australian Founders Score Higher in Entrepreneurial Traits than Silicon Valley Founders

Posted by Joe Garza on 2014-03-25

Apparently, Australian founders have better entrepreneur DNA than those in Silicon Valley. These results come from pre-screening psychometric tests that all Founder Institute candidates are required to take, evaluating them on six key entrepreneurial characteristics: emotional stability, fluid intelligence, openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and extraversion.

More than 20,000 applicants from 55 cities have completed this test, with Sydney and Perth having higher average scores than Silicon Valley in almost every trait. Adeo Ressi, the Founder and CEO of the Founder Institute, is not at all surprised by these rankings, citing the thriving Australian startup ecosystem as a contributing factor.

You would be hard pressed to find a faster-growing startup ecosystem than Australia’s, and so it is no surprise that Australians have many of the traits that we find to correlate with strong startup founders.” - Adeo Ressi
