Posted by Duke Lee on 2014-03-17

The Founder Institute, the world's largest startup accelerator, is proud to announce that it is launching its first Greek chapter in Athens. The inaugral semester will begin this Spring and is currently accepting applications

The news of the launch was covered on multiple news outlets including on Fortune Greece by Μαρία Ακριβού in the article titled "Εκκίνηση για το Founder Institute" and also on EMEA Business Monitor by Δημητρίου ΠΟΓΚΑ in the article titled "Founder Institute: Στην Αθήνα το μεγαλύτερο πρόγραμμα startup acceleration παγκοσμίως - Πότε ξεκινά, πόσο κοστίζει, ποιοι συμμετέχουν".

The demand we have seen in Athens tells us that there are many people want to launch technology companies in the city, but lack the structured training and clear first steps to do so. I believe that the Founder Institute can deliver results, and help cultivate all of the local talent to launch successful new companies.”- Adeo Ressi, Founder & CEO of the Founder Institute
By setting up its first ever program in Greece, the Silicon Valley-based Founder Institute now operates across 36 countries. The Founder Institute decided to officially launch in Athens after an overwhelmingly successful trial period across the city in February drew over 290 interested applicants. With plans to run two semesters annually, the program aims to launch over 20 meaningful and enduring technology companies per year in Greece.

Leading the Founder Institute's efforts in Athens are Michalis Stangos and Carla Tanas, co-founders of Industry Disruptors-Game Changers, an organization promoting entrepreneurship in Greece and the surrounding region.
