Start a Company in Hawaii! Applications Now Open for the Honolulu Founder Institute

The Founder Institute, the world's largest startup accelerator, is now accepting applications for the Honolulu Spring 2014 Semester.

The new semester kickoff was covered by Duane Shimogawa of Pacific Business News in an article titled, World's largest startup accelerator looking for Hawaii entrepreneurs.

Those who apply by the Early Application Deadline (2014-04-27) will have their application fees waived (typically $50) and are eligible for Founder Institute Fellowships

In the Founder Institute's four-month, part-time program, promising startup entrepreneurs “learn by doing” and launch a company through structured training courses, practical business-building assignments, and expert feedback from a large network of business mentors. Plus, aspiring founders are not required to quit their day job to participate, so they can begin building a business around their ideas without putting their livelihood at risk.

The Founder Institute’s worldwide portfolio of companies has an estimated value in excess of $5 billion, and promising Hawaii companies that have launched from the program include ReadyZone HQ, Mentors Guild, Holoplex, Dodecki and more.

The Honolulu Chapter will begin on 2014-06-25 and will be led by local leaders Russell Cheng (Co-Founder of Dev League) and Brent Kakesako (Executive Director at Hawai'i Alliance for Community-Based Economic Development).

In only 5 years of operation, over 1,185 graduate companies across 66 cities have used the Founder Institute to validate their idea, develop their plans, refine their product, build an advisory board, prepare for seed funding, and more.
