Silicon Valley Tech Accelerator Launches First Southeast U.S. Outpost in Atlanta

Posted by Jonathan Greechan on 2013-11-30

The Founder Institute startup accelerator has officially announced it’s plans to launch a chapter in Atlanta, Georgia this Winter.

The story was covered in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, highlighting Atlanta’s exceptional business culture, making it a prime location for the program. With over 50 locations worldwide, this will be the Institute’s first chapter in the Southeast region of the US.

“In Atlanta, you’re seeing multiple interesting things happening at the same time", says Founder Institute CEO, Adeo Ressi, "whereas in other markets, you’ll see one thing followed by another thing — it’s more linear and gradual”. The local startup scene is growing rapidly, and as entrepreneurial interests perk, the Founder Institute wants to be ready to meet the needs of new startup founders - helping them avoid crucial mistakes and increase their chances of success.

Atlanta is already home to a number of startup groups, including Atlanta Tech Village - a popular co-working space in Buckhead. Atlanta Tech Village founder, David Cummings, says “the Founder Institute program fills an unmet need in Atlanta’s startup ecosystem...there is a need for programs geared around working professionals who want to get their business off the ground, without leaving the comfort of their day jobs. It’s going to result in more startups, which are going to create more jobs locally.”

The 4-month program will be meeting on Monday evenings starting 2016-03-17, and will be led by local leaders Praveen Ghanta (Co-Founder, HiddenLevers) and Prem Bhatia (Co-Founder at Cooleaf).
