Founder Files: DCFI grad Anton Gelman advocates for startups and freelancers worldwide

Posted by Amity Sims on 2013-11-06

Founder Files profile the Founders and CEOs of Founder Institute companies all over the globe.

Name: Anton Gelman

FI Semester:  Washington DC Fall 2010

Company: Cont3nt.com

Anton Gelman is the Founder and CEO of Cont3nt - a platform that allows media companies and freelance journalists to sell their photo and video stories in real-time to publishers worldwide. He was recently named a Top 30 Under 40 Entrepreneur by Bisnow and is a local leader in the DC startup scene, working with 1776, AngelHack, and others.

According to Bisnow, “the 32-year-old was inspired after spending part of his childhood in Ukraine when it was part of the Soviet Union and lacked any type of freedom. He now fully appreciates the idea of the American dream. Best business lesson: Know yourself, and don't fall in love with your products.”

Anton recently joined us for a Founder Institute Grad Q&A Panel to share his experience at the DC Founder Institute, and answer questions from aspiring entrepreneurs.

When asked what he found most valuable about FI, Anton said:

“When you’re outside Silicon Valley where most of the tech happens, you need a connection to what’s new, what’s actually happening, and to people who are doing real startups, not just small businesses. The Founder Institute provides those connections."
