As we launch the second Montreal Founder Institute, we are excited to announce a partnership with Noticias Montreal to help spur entrepreneurship in the Latin American community in Montreal.

Through this partnership, Noticias Montréal readers can apply to the Montreal Founder Institute for free ($50 value), and the most extraordinary Latin American applicant will be awarded the NM Diversity Fellowship, giving them the opportunity to enroll in the program for free ($999 USD value). The recipient will be recognized as someone with the utmost potential to become a successful technology entrepreneur.

News of the partnership was covered on Noticias Montreal here (article in Spanish).

Noticias Montreal is a Spanish-language media channel based in Montreal and founded by a group of immigrant journalists. Their main goal is to provide the latest news, information and features about Montreal, as well as offer a helping hand in the immigration and integration process of the numerous Spanish-speaking newcomers to the region.

The partnership with the Founder Institute was dreamed up by Sergio Escobar, Co-Director of the Montreal Founder Institute. As a Latin American immigrant living in Canada, Sergio has taken a leadership role in evangelizing Latin American entrepreneurship in Canada, and immigration reform. Among other things, Sergio is the Former Board Director at the Latin America Chamber of Commerce in Canada, and has been appointed with Ministry-official designations at the Board of Directors of the Conference Board of Montreal, the Ministry of Immigration - Montreal Metropolitan Socio-Economic Council, the Ministry of Economy - Entrepreneurship Council, and the Ministry of Employment - Montreal Metropolitan Employment Council.

Being a Latin American immigrant in Canada, I have always demonstrated through my entrepreneurship roles that latins should feel proud about their origins and that they can contribute and accomplish great things in North America. I strongly encourage the inspiration and cultivation of Latino-led technology startup ventures. With this fellowship, I really hope the latin community in Montreal will start shifting their mindset around tech entrepreneurship, which can be more profitable than building traditional SMBs. I feel so proud of the Founder Institute for heloing to promote this first worldwide "diversity" fellowship to a specific cultural community"

- Sergio Escobar, Co-Director of the Montreal Founder Institute
